Eagle Logistics celebrates 7 years of thinking different

Eagle Logistics Colombo celebrated 7 year anniversary on 20th Oct with a religious ceremony at their head office 209, Dharamapala mawatha Colombo 7.

Eagle Logistics Colombo started their operation in 2005 with 2 staff and today it has become well reputed Sri Lankan own logistics operator with over 70 staff and 3 branch offices in Katunayake, Biyagama and Moratuwa.

From the inception the company has been concentrating on import logistics serving many multinational organizations in Sri Lanka. They have diversified their business in to various sectors like Automobile, Pharmaceuticals, Food and Beverages, Garments, Projects and many more.

CEO and Managing Director Asanga Weerackody says that one of the main challenges company faced during last 7 years of business was to trained and developed young staff. As a policy we have never taken any experienced staff from the trade. We have been taking young blood and trained and developed them to freight forwarding. They were new to a job as well as to the trade. So we had to see both areas at the same time. Freight forwarding is a competitive trade in Sri Lanka. So with young staff it is difficult to survive in this trade. But we saw it as a challenge. We have managed to recognize the strengths and the weakness of this young people and used them for the right job at the right time. All the top management staff of our company started their carrier with us and It was successful. That is why we currently rank one of the top 5 import logistics companies in Sri Lanka. So we have decided continues this method forever.

‘Think Different’ is the company slogan. This gives an idea to all the employees to do things differently. When they do things differently, it helps company to fight with the competition.

Further he said that opening up branches in Katunayake, Biyagama and Moratuwa helped the company to expand its customer base from outside Colombo. All 3 branch offices are fully equipped with sales, customer service and operations staff. So these offices are independent with their own style of service levels.

Eagle Logistics Colombo is a joint venture company between Managing Director Asanga Weerackody and CL Synergy Ltd. Asanga Weerackody has been serving the trade for more than 20 years previously with Pership/UTI, Schenker and HTL Logistics.
