Eagle Logistics Colombo celebrates nine successful years today (20 October) with religious activities at their corporate office at Dharmapala Mawatha Colombo 07. The company started its business in 2005 with three staff and today it has grown to 110 staff with seven offices in the island serving hundreds of corporate customers internationally. Eagle Logistics has a unique way of recruiting staff in the Sri Lankan freight forwarding industry as they never recruit experienced staff to their senior positions and always gives the opportunity to their own staff for same during these nine years of business. Christine Jennifer, head of HR said that, “Only reason for the business to do well during last nine years was happy staff. They believe that they have ample opportunities in the company and their future is secured. They give 100% of their time and effort. Every individual takes the business personally. No senior position will be filled from outside and no position could be held by any individual for more than two years. Work has to be delegated to the junior and senior should go up in the ladder.” Further she stated that, “Our policy is ‘go up or go out’.” Eagle Logistics is an equal joint venture between CEO Asanga Weerackody and CL Synergy Limited. CEO Asanga Weerackody is a well experienced person in the freight forwarding industry. He started his carrier at Pership Group of companies during 1992 and he has completed almost 22 years in freight forwarding. Weerackody mentioned that, “I believe that every individual has a strength no matter what school he/she is from or what education he/she has. As managers we should be capable enough to identify same. So it is our responsibility to find this strength and use same for the correct job. So in other words there are nothing called good employees or bad employees. This is my message to all my senior staff. I think this is what helps to keep our staff productive and happy and this is why company was successful during these nine years of business.” Further Weerackody mentioned that, “We always want to think different. We always want to do our business different to our completion. Freight forwarding has always been a price driven product among most of the customers in Sri Lanka. But we always sell solutions to our customers and this is why they are with us from the inceptions.” Eagle Logistics has five fully equipped branches in Katunayake, Biyagama, Moratuwa, Homagama and Colombo 14.
