Eagle Logistics expands 3PL arm with Eskimo Fashion

Import logistics specialists Eagle Logistics Colombo, has expanded their 3PL arm with Eskimo Fashion Knitwear Ltd., a German-owned company which manufactures a range of fashion accessories for export. Eskimo has been operating in Sri Lanka for over 30 years.
Eskimo Fashion Knitwear Managing Director Manik Santiapillai said: “Outsourcing the company’s logistics operations to a specialised 3PL company has definitely helped to streamline the supply chain process and enables us to focus our attention on improving operational efficiencies within our business.”
He also mentioned that Eagle’s approach was refreshingly innovative. They did not simply offer forwarding services but took operational responsibility for virtually all the logistics functions within the company. Overall the transition has been successful and the anticipated costs saving have actually materialised. This in turn allows Eskimo to remain cost competitive in their traditional European markets.
Head of 3PL operations of Eagle Logistics, Christine Taylor noted: “We are delighted to be involved in the operations of a prestigious company like Eskimo Fashion Knitwear and it was a tremendous challenge for a company of our size. I think our success can be attributed to our young and dynamic staff.
“When we received the green light from the management at Eskimo, the whole 3PL team worked overnight for many weeks to streamline operations.
