Emirates Airline has launched flights between Dubai and Geneva.

The Dubai-Geneva service will operate with a combination of Boeing 777-200LR and Boeing 777-300ERs.

The aircraft arranged in a three-class configuration, will offer first class private suites, lie-flat seats in business class and a spacious cabin in economy class.

Passengers in all classes will be able to sit back and enjoy the popular ice entertainment system, along with gourmet meals, served by a multi-national cabin crew.

The Geneva route is Emirates’ second gateway into Switzerland after Zurich, which started in 1992 and now operates two flights daily.

Each 777 operating the Geneva route will be able to carry 15-20 tonnes of cargo. Much of the capacity out of Geneva is expected to be used by the luxury sector, one of the top employers in the Geneva region and responsible for 60% of its exports. The cargo manifest for first Geneva-Dubai flight includes fashion items, perfumes, pharmaceuticals, electronics and relief goods.

EK 089 will leave Dubai each day at 08:55 and arrive in Geneva at 13:45. From Geneva, EK 090 will depart at 15:15 and arrive in Dubai at 23:30.

“This launch, in particular, has a strong international feel about it - linking Dubai, as a global aviation hub and centre for business and tourism with Geneva, a home to so many international organisations and an important financial and banking centre,” said the President of Emirates Airline Tim Clark. “On the back of our robust financial results, the airline continues to drive forward - connecting key cities around the world.”

Emirates celebrated its first flight to Geneva with a gala dinner for hundreds of guests. The dinner, attended by senior Emirates executives and local dignitaries, included a special performance by popular singing group Westlife.
