Evergreen inducts seventh new 8,452-TEU ship

Ever Lawful, the seventh L-type containership of Evergreen Line, was christened by Evergreen Group’s First vice Group Chairman S.S. Lin, at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard recently. The ceremonial rope cutting for the new 8,452-TEU vessel was performed by Lai Chao-Yin, wife of Mega International Commercial Bank president Shiu Kuang-Si, in a ceremony attended by dignitaries from Taiwan and abroad.

Ever Lawful is owned by Evergreen Marine (Singapore) Pvt Ltd. The L-class containership is 334 metres in length, 45.8 metres wide, with 942 reefer plugs and a draft of 14.2 metres. The vessel can cruise at a speed up to 24.5 knots. Ever Lawful will join Evergreen Line’s Far East, Europe routes after her delivery on 20 November.

For fleet rejuvenation, Evergreen Group commenced a new shipbuilding project in 2010 and ordered 20 L-type vessels from Samsung Heavy Industries. In 2011, Evergreen placed an order for another 10 vessels of the same specifications with Taiwan Shipbuilding Corp.

L-class containerships are fitted with alternative marine power, ballast water treatment system, electronic-controlled fuel-injection engine that supports slow steaming and many more eco-friendly designs. With its forward-looking planning, Evergreen Group adopts the latest marine technologies not only for quality transportation service but also for sustainable development of the marine ecology.
