Evergreen Line was named the recipient of the 2015 LOG-NET E-Commerce Excellence Award presented recently in Long Beach, CA, at the Trans Pacific Maritime conference, attended by more than 2,000 representatives from container shipping, logistics and cargo owners. LOG-NET, the leading integrator of ocean carriers and their customers, presented this award in conjunction with the Journal of Commerce. The award was accepted by Roy Amalfitano, President of Evergreen Shipping Agency (America) Corp., North America agents for Evergreen Line. The award is given in recognition of Evergreen’s outstanding achievement in processing customer electronic information, said LOG-NET President John Motley. “The competition is extremely difficult and analyses customer set-up, completeness, timeliness, accuracy and deployment across customers of multiple sizes and geographic domains,” he said. The award is recognised as the top such honour in electronic commerce in the international trade and transportation industry and recognises Evergreen’s commitment to customers in every area of operations. “Evergreen has done an excellent job in the face of great competition,” said Motley. Amalfitano said: “We at Evergreen place great emphasis on what our customers need to remain competitive. E-commerce has been a company and customer priority since it even became a factor in shipping,” he added. “This is certainly a meaningful honour in a year where our industry faced enormous challenges.” Evergreen in 2003 was named LOG-NET’s first ever recipient of this award, as well as in 2004. In the years following, Evergreen was among the top five and this year it came out on top.

Evergreen Line enhances Southeast Asia service

In light of the strong growth potential of the Intra-Asia trades, Evergreen Line is implementing service enhancements for its services to/from Southeast Asian markets. The carrier will launch its new Taiwan-Shekou-Malacca Strait Service (TSS) later in March and will, at the same time, introduce a dedicated Taiwan-Hong Kong Service (THK). Evergreen will deploy three ships of 1,600 TEU on the TSS service, connecting Taiwan, Southern China, Singapore and Malaysia. The start of this weekly service will be marked by the inaugural sailing from Kaohsiung on 19 March. The port rotation will then follow as Hong Kong-Shekou- Port Klang-Penang-Port Klang-Singapore-Tanjung Pelepas-Kaohsiung. This new service string will not only provide an efficient link for regional trade but also connect into the global networks of Evergreen Line and its alliance partners via hubs at Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tanjung Pelepas. In addition, Evergreen has also begun the THK Service. Employing a 1,200 TEU vessel, the weekly service will have a port rotation of Taichung, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong and Taichung with its maiden voyage from Hong Kong taking place on 25 March. The goals of this move are to improve service frequency between Taiwan and Hong Kong and to increase connectivity to Evergreen’s global network. Moreover the service will provide a ‘Blue Way’ coastal feeder option between Taichung, Taipei and Kaohsiung, thereby significantly reducing the demand for trucking across Taiwan. This arrangement is in line with Evergreen’s environmental policy to contribute to the sustainability of natural environment.
