Expo Freight (EFL), Sri Lanka’s largest freight forwarders and a subsidiary of Expolanka Holdings PLC, recently opened a new branch in Galle. The new office facility comes as part of EFL’s ongoing partnership with SriLankan Airlines, taking on the role as their Authorised Cargo Agent in Galle.

The new branch was officially opened by Ali Kamil - Senior Manager Cargo (Worldwide Sales and Marketing) for SriLankan Airlines and Jagath Pathirane, Director/CEO, Expo Freight (EFL) in the presence of invited guests and officials from both companies.

The new EFL office will provide total logistics and cargo handling solutions in the Galle district for SriLankan Airlines, while also expanding Expo’s access points within Sri Lanka to the benefit of its customers. The current infrastructure of EFL supports multi modal transportation and logistics with ocean and air transportation as focal business points, along with the provision of supporting services in warehousing, customs clearance and handling, inland trucking and haulage.

Pathirane said; “The opening of the Galle office furthers our presence in the South, following the opening of the Hambantota office last year. We are proud to partner the national carrier with its cargo operations in the Southern capital, alongside the simultaneous expansion of our operations in the district. The demand for cargo and logistics solutions continues to rise, providing a multitude of potential growth opportunities for EFL and its loyal clientele.”

Having acquired a highly respected reputation as specialists in freight forwarding, EFL will leverage its presence in the South in order to further develop its infrastructure across additional routes of transportation, islandwide. The industry giant will tap into Galle’s potential as a crucial new market whilst forging a strong partnership with award winning national carrier, SriLankan Airlines.

Launched 30 years ago, EFL commands a global footprint today with an 1200+ staff strength across 15 countries and 45 cities and a strong presence in the Indian sub continent. EFL is a prominent IATA agent in Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan and has representation in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the USA.

Complementing Sri Lanka’s vision to be a regional maritime hub, a Rs. 600 m, 100,000 sqft state-of-the-art storage facility with value additions is currently being constructed. High standards, the delivery of energy efficiency and the adherence to global health and safety requirements have set the benchmark very high for all those who follow.
