Holiday-makers looking for winter sunshine will have more choice from next year when British Airways increases long-haul flights from Gatwick to warmer climes.
The airline will increase services to top winter hotspots, with extra services to the Caribbean and Florida from 26 October 2014.
For the first time, the airline will be offering non-stop flights to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, with a twice-weekly service.
That means extra seats are available on flights to Antigua, which previously continued on to Punta Cana three times a week.
The number of flights to ever-popular Orlando will increase from seven to ten a week, to meet customer demand for part of the winter season. Meanwhile, Florida holiday-makers also benefit from another return flight to Tampa, resulting in a daily service to the Gulf-coast based city.
There are also two extra flights a week to Barbados, increasing services up to 12 per week during the peak winter season, and an extra weekly service to Kingston, bringing the number of weekly return flights up to four.
Colm Lacy, British Airways’ Gatwick commercial director, said: “These extra flights mean families and holiday-makers will have even more choice where to enjoy the winter sunshine, with fantastic direct services to Punta Cana and added flights to Barbados, Tampa, Orlando, Kingston and even more seats to Antigua.
“This builds on the extra flights we introduced for our Summer 2014 season, thanks to adding an extra Boeing 777 to our long-haul Gatwick fleet making our flying schedule to top leisure destinations even better.”
