Collating the synergies of 25 years in an industry that has become more connected and demanding, Freight Systems has strategically positioned itself globally as a leading provider in logistics solutions. Manned by a team of over 1,200 professionals in a network of nearly 50 offices in 17 countries, the group provides total freight forwarding and logistics solutions that exceed the stringent demands of international markets. As Managing Director David Phillips said: “Our goal will always be to exceed our customers’ expectations, and technology plays a crucial role in this. We are constantly leveraging our technology backbone to deliver customised and integrated real-time solutions to customers. Delivering value goes so much further than just having competitive services and pricing. Unless we are able to provide real solutions to a customer’s need, be it through information, efficient processes, or integrated and connected systems (just a few examples), we are not truly delivering value. This scope is never-ending, and we are only just scratching the surface of what can be done.”     Dynamism “Our entire ethos is built on the platform of dynamism,” states Freight Systems in Sri Lanka Director/CEO Pandula Kuruppu. “Our Sri Lankan presence is fifteen years old and in that time, we have pragmatically analysed the transforming trends in the industry to offer a portfolio of total solutions that are unprecedented.” Expanding on this focus in Sri Lanka, he says, “Planning and implementing integrated logistics solutions which are customised to specific needs requires considerable specialties and competencies, which we have among our very professional team of fifty. Our aim is to add value to Sri Lanka’s geographic advantage and this success is unequivocally due to the motivation, dedication and ‘out of the box’ thinking our team has constantly imbued.” Spearheaded by professional and experienced management, an added positive is that FSL has teams dedicated to key operational areas including customer service, operations and clearing and forwarding, which adds to its competitive edge. The services, as expanded on by Kuruppu, include ocean, land and air freight consolidation and forwarding, sea-air consolidation, logistics and distribution, supply chain management, customs clearance services, contract logistics, and buyer consolidation. The unique customer focused web-based purchase order management system, FRESCON, which: tracks and manages customer shipments (and documents) real-time, manages order histories and invoices, has e-booking facilities and has an electronic Bill of Lading system (as well as many other features) has become an important and valuable tool to their international clientele.     LogEx Kuruppu expands on yet another product within Freight Systems – LogEx – which is over 500,000 square feet of dedicated warehousing space for contract logistics and supply chain services in India, UAE, Singapore and Sri Lanka. Operating on a state-of-the-art Warehouse Management System (WMS) compatible with most global ERPs, LogEx offers value additions such as customisable MIS reports, efficient inventory management with barcode scanning facilities and tools for measuring processes, resource management and objectives against deliverables for logistics milestones in the supply chain. LogEx also offers shared warehousing facilities customised for customer specific needs in all the countries that they operate in. Building on the group’s vision to constantly exceed customer expectations by providing innovative logistics solutions, Phillips says, “It is FSL’s ethos of dynamism that has seen the perfect marriage of innovation, technology and people, all of which ultimately make ‘Every move a success’.” And it is this success that has prompted FSL to recognise and reward the team for their dedication, loyalty and partnership in ensuring that the company’s mission and goals are met.
