Gihan re-appointed as Chairman Advisory Board at Famous Pacific Shipping Global

Gihan Nanayakkara, Chairman and Managing Director of Famous Pacific Shipping Lanka and SAS Holdings Group was re-elected as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the FPS group at the Annual General Meeting held on 22 October in Colombo, Sri Lanka. In this capacity, he will head the Famous Pacific Shipping Global advisory board that sets policy, direction and the operation of the entire FPS group world-wide. He is an industry veteran in the shipping and freight logistics industry both locally and internationally with a sound knowledge of global agency development and networking. The FPS group represented in over 50 countries and over 3500 ports and destinations exceeds an annual container volume of over 1 million TEUs is a global leader in NVOCC cargo consolidation services. FPS group celebrated its 15th anniversary with one of its best-attended annual conferences at the Cinnamon Lakeside from 21 to 24 October. 101 delegates, including two new members and five candidates, attended the four-day event at the hotel. The program included the Annual General Meeting, forums on IT, network development and marketing, and two days of intensive one to one meetings between members. At the gala dinner, 28 founder members who had attended every past Annual Conference were publicly recognised with awards. Commenting on the event, Chairman Gihan Nanayakkara said: “This was one of the best annual conferences in our history, demonstrating the strong commitment of our members to support FPS and take it forward. We discussed new products, shared ideas and went away with many new initiatives to work on.” He concluded: “I am delighted to be continuing in my role, and look forward to helping steer FPS Group through an exciting period over the next two years. We have achieved a great deal in the past 15 years, but the much greater potential still lies ahead of us.” The FPS Global Board comprises of FPS Sri Lanka Chairman Gihan Nanayakkara, FPS Thailand Chairman Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, FPS Indonesia Chairman Iskandar Zulkarnain, FPS Australia Managing Director Sam Aparo and FPS Hong Kong Director and China Group Treasurer Benny Ling.
