Hanjin, COSCON to jointly launch service in Far East, Gulf of Mexico trade

The members of the CKYH Green Alliance-Hanjin Shipping and COSCON have announced that they will be launching a new service in the Far East –Gulf of Mexico trade effective end of April.

Named AWT, All Water Gulf of Mexico, (or GME, Gulf of Mexico Express for COSCON) ,this new service will be operated by a total of eight vessels of 4,000TEU class with Hanjin Shipping deploying two and COSCON, six.

The port rotation will be Busan-Shanghai (Waigaoqiao Terminal)-Ningbo-Xiamen-Yantian-(Panama Canal)-Colon-Houston-(Panama Canal)-Busan

This new service will cover the Gulf of Mexico and the southern part of the US (Houston area) including the Caribbean Sea region offering wide service coverage with feeder network. Meanwhile, it will also offer very attractive transit times; 24 days from Yantian to Houston, the fastest transit time in the market and only 27 days from East China to Houston.

The partner carriers believe that the introduction of this new direct service will fulfill customers’ needs in the trade.
