Hapag-Lloyd, CMA CGM announce freight rates hike

Hapag-Lloyd has announced increases in rates from Indian sub continent to USA, Canada as well as North Europe. The line has announced a General Rate Increase – From India and ISC to USA and Canada effective 1 August 2014. It said Hapag-Lloyd will increase the rates on the eastbound trade from India and Indian Subcontinent (ISC) to all USA and Canada destinations (both EC and WC). USD 320 per 20’ standard container USD 400 per 40’ standard container (40’ x 8’6”) USD 400 per 40’ high cube container (40’ x 9’6”) USD 400 per 40’ reefer container (40’ x 9’6”) India Origins: Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Chennai, Tuticorin, Cochin, Mangalore, Goa, Haldia, Kolkata and ICD origins. ISC Origins: Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Hapag-Lloyd has also announced a General Rate Increase – Westbound from Indian Subcontinent Zone 2, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to North Europe & Mediterranean effective 6 August 2014. The increase is USD 250 per TEU and is applicable for all shipments to North Europe and Mediterranean (excluding South and West Africa). Indian Subcontinent Zone 2 comprises East and South Coast India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. North Europe comprises North West Continent, the U.K., Scandinavia, Baltic and European ports of Russia. Mediterranean comprises the West Mediterranean, East Mediterranean, Black Sea and North Africa. CMA CGM has also announced General Rate Restoration from all Asian ports (including Japan, South East Asia and Bangladesh) to the Red Sea ports of Jeddah, Ain Sukhna, Aqaba, Djibouti, Port Sudan, Aden and Hodeidah.All Cargo: $ 200/TEU and is effective from 15 August 2014.Furthermore a General Rate Restoration from all Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Middle East Gulf ports: All cargo: $ 100 per TEU and is effective from 15 August 2014. The line also announced a General Rate Restoration from Asia including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh to West Africa on all cargo amounting to $ 250/TEU. Effective date is 1 September 2014.
