Incognito to its world premiere: DHL transports new Mercedes S-Class

DHL, the leading global logistics provider, has shipped the latest generation of the Mercedes S-Class to its international premiere on 15 May 2013 in Hamburg.

Transported straight from the Mercedes-Benz plant in Stuttgart to the suburb of Finkenwerder in Hamburg, the cloaked luxury sedan was flown in an A300-600 DHL freight aircraft. In Hamburg, the new vehicle was unveiled for the first time to approximately 700 customers, retailers and journalists.

“This eagerly awaited presentation is a milestone of particular importance for Mercedes, so we have the very highest of expectations with regard to the car’s safe transportation and the confidential handling of information. We are delighted that we have, for many years, had DHL as a partner which meets the same rigorous quality standards we set ourselves and in which we can have the utmost confidence,” said Jörg Howe, Head of Communications Daimler AG.

DHL cooperated extremely closely with Mercedes-Benz on shipping the new S-Class to Hamburg secure. DHL’s crew members, security staff at the Mercedes-Benz plant and a special camouflage system for the car ensured that the operation’s extremely demanding security requirements were met.
