Prepared to contribute to country’s oil and gas sector
The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) held its annual Sri Lanka Technical Committee Meeting under the patronage of Chairman Mangala P. B. Yapa and Co-Chairman Mohan Pandithage recently at The Kingsbury, Colombo.
An International Ship Certification Society, the IRS is the newest of its kind to have received full member status from the prestigious International Association of Classification Societies. With a dynamic presence of over 15 years in Sri Lanka, the independent ship classification society, better known as IRCLASS, carries out its operations in the island through the Hayleys Advantis Group. Conducting its operations here in Sri Lanka, IRCLASS considers Colombo to be a region vital for the growth in the sphere of maritime activities.
Expressing himself at the event, Anil Devli, Chief Operating Officer of IRS, said: “IRCLASS will continue to adopt a proactive approach in providing services to its clients that would go beyond its traditional role of class. Our presence in Sri Lanka has been highly productive and successful and our operations with Hayleys Advantis has gone from strength to strength.”
Imminent personnel from the maritime and related industries, including the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage were also present at the event, where the possible contribution by IRCLASS in the oil and gas exploration sector in Sri Lanka was discussed.
IRS is widely recognised for its technical competence, vast experience and customer friendly approach. Its proven expertise developed in the marine sector with excellent track record has enabled IRS to suitably diversify its services to the industrial sector and to the field of quality management systems certification.
