Logiwiz joins hands with CINEC Campus for its Logistics Day

As part of its continued efforts to develop the local logistics industry, Logiwiz joined hands with CINEC Campus for its 2013 Logistics Day as its preferred 3PL partner.
An annual event organised by the students of the Faculty of Management’s Department of Logistics and Transport at CINEC, this year’s Logistics Day was held in the beginning of November.
“As the market leader in third party logistics (3PL) solutions in the country, we believe that we need to contribute towards nurturing talent and developing well balanced logistics professionals for the industry. Institutes such as the CINEC Maritime Campus play a vital role in this regard and we have always worked closely with them,” said Ruwan Waidyaratne, Managing Director of the Hayleys Advantis Group.
“Recently we welcomed over 100 future logisticians for a full day field visit to Logiwiz’s state-of-the-art 3PL facility in Kelaniya to observe real-time operations and interact with our in-house experts,” added Waidyaratne.
Meanwhile the Vice President of CINEC Prof. Nalaka Jayakody said: “The Logistics Day was created as a platform for students to touch base with the industry. We’d like to thank Logiwiz for their continued support to our initiatives. Over the years the company has caught the attention of the best students from institutes like us and several of our past students are currently being employed there.”
Held under the theme ‘Intermodal Transportation’, this year’s event featured several veterans who shared their insights with the students. The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. Dan Malika Gunasekara, Head of the Department of Logistics & Transport, Faculty of Management, CINEC, while the panel included eminent speakers from the field; including Mangala Yapa, CEO and Managing Director of Colombo Dockyard PLC and Kishu Gomes, CEO of Chevron Lubricants PLC.
