Maldivian, owned and operated by Island Aviation Services, has migrated to mercator’s Airline Reservation (MARS) and Airport Control (MACS) passenger services solutions. The national flag carrier of Maldives will also use mercator’s Internet Booking Engine to support channel sales and enable growth as the carrier aspires to move towards becoming a full service airline. Mukund Srinivasan, mercator’s Vice President, said: “mercator’s Passenger Services Solution (PSS) supports the operations of many airlines across the globe and we are confident that our new mutually beneficial partnership with Maldivian will support the airline’s daily operations. We look forward to working together and supporting Maldivian as it moves through the different phases of growth.” Maldivian, which operates daily domestic flights, continues to expand its network, adding Chennai in India and Dhaka in Bangladesh late last year. The partnership with mercator will enable the carrier to streamline and automate processes, towards the attainment of greater levels of operational efficiency. mercator’s technology will support the carrier’s existing daily operations including the management of customer check-in and departure and its future operations as it seeks to establish interline partners and grow its network. The passenger services solution also opens the doors to global distribution systems (GDS), enabling Maldivian to utilize industry standard fares. “This is a positive step forward for Maldivian as we aspire to add new destinations and to undertake new interline agreements with other airlines as part of our expansion plans,” said Abdul Haris, Maldivian Managing Director. “We chose mercator because we believe its IT solutions will enable us to provide our passengers with an overall better experience. Customer satisfaction with our product is the base from which our growth will be derived.”
