I am pleased to be able to furnish a message of goodwill for the Colombo International Maritime Conference.
The Government has a mandate from the people to fast track economic progress in keeping with Sri Lanka’s envisioned position as a key economic hub. The shipping industry along with trade and logistic management are key areas in this connection, empowering Sri Lanka’s link to the global supply chain.
Positioned on a dynamic global seafaring route with considerable prospects for growth and expansion, Sri Lanka has the capacity to achieve optimum results. The shipping industry needs to be strengthened and reinforced to be able to overcome challenges faced and to consolidate the country’s capacity to emerge as a global shipping and trade hub.
In this context, the Sri Lanka Maritime Week along with the Colombo International Maritime Conference are well positioned to showcase Sri Lanka’s potential to emerge as a strong contender for the international shipping and trade initiatives in the region.
I take this opportunity to wish the organisers all the very best.
