Mihin Lanka’s fifth batch of Trainee First Officers commence training

Mihin Lanka’s fifth batch of Trainee First Officers, recently commenced phase one of their pilot training with the airline. A total of six candidates were selected from 34 applicants who completed a comprehensive induction process, including rigorous technical and psychometric evaluations. All candidate evaluations were conducted by UK based Alpha Aviation, in accordance with the highest international standards. The first phase of training is taking place at the airline’s ground school where the Trainee First Officers will learn the theoretical and technical aspects of piloting. 

This is also the first time that the airline’s ground school training will be conducted in-house, with the official classroom being located at Mihin Lanka’s new head office in Colombo. The new location has all the training facilities required for comprehensive classroom based training sessions which will be conducted by Mihin Lanka’s own instructors over a period of six to eight weeks.

After the completion of their ground school training, the candidates will undergo a comprehensive simulator training phase and will thereafter be granted the A320 type rating by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka. After completing over 200 hours of flying time or approximately 60 sectors, the candidates will receive First Officer status.
