NYK included in world’s most ethical companies list for fifth consecutive year

NYK has been recognised as one of 2012 World’s Most Ethical Companies by the US think tank Ethisphere Institute. This is the fifth consecutive year for NYK to receive this prestigious recognition.

This list has been compiled annually since 2007 by the research-based Ethisphere Institute, a leading international think tank.

The World’s Most Ethical Companies designation recognises leading companies that truly go beyond making statements about doing business “ethically” and translate those words into action.

NYK is the only shipping company included among the 145 listed in the 2012 World’s Most Ethical Companies, and only one of six Japanese companies recognised.

The institute carefully reviewed responses to questions in five categories for companies in over 100 countries and 48 industries. They are Ethics and Compliance Program; Reputation, Leadership and Innovation; Governance; Corporate Citizenship and Responsibility and Culture of Ethics

NYK, as a good corporate citizen, will continue to take an active role in social issues, including the conservation of the environment, to contribute to the achievement of a better global society.

At the end of March 2011, the NYK Group was operating 827 major ocean vessels, as well as fleets of planes, trains, and trucks. NYK’s revenue in fiscal 2010 was about $22 billion, and as a group NYK employs about 54,000 people worldwide. NYK is based in Tokyo and has regional headquarters in London, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Sydney, and Sao Paulo.
