OEL Dubai celebrates 200th call to Colombo today

The 1028 TEU feeder vessel OEL Dubai owned and operated by Orient Express Lines Fzco Dubai will today celebrate her 200th call at Colombo Port.

She first made her maiden call at Colombo on 22 April 2008 straight from the builders in Singapore, to be deployed on the Colombo to Cochin shuttle. That call made history being the first common carrier feeder to be deployed in such a manner.

“On Monday we will be celebrating the milestone of 200 voyages by OEL Dubai in her shuttle between Colombo and Cochin,” a spokesman said.

A ceremony has been planned onboard this vessel in order commemorate this feat.

The Chairman of Orient Express Lines will be personally visiting Colombo to be a part of the ceremony. Senior Port officials too are due to join this event.

Orient Express Lines, which commenced calling Colombo as far back as 1992, has been long serving the Colombo trade for the last 20 years as a feeder operator and has an array of services calling various ports in the region.
