Domestic airline and helicopter operator Simplifly announced that it had entered into a comprehensive sales and marketing agreement with FlySriLanka.
FlySriLanka is an intelligent web-based booking service that specialises in arranging domestic air transfers and aerial excursions for local and foreign travellers.
“Air travel within Sri Lanka is a fairly new concept for tourists, who are used to moving around in hired vans and cars. While they are very familiar with road transfers, it can be a challenge to find a suitable air transfer as the industry is relatively new. Therefore, we felt it was the right time to provide visitors to our country with a solution to easily study all flight options within the island and to book those flights with ease and convenience,” said Anuruddha Bandara, Managing Director, FlySriLanka. Bandara is also the founder and Chairman of Eco Team, which is a well-established niche tourism specialist.
FlySriLanka clients will be able to book charter flights on any one of the aircraft within the Simplifly fleet while the site will also list special seasonal and off-season offers.
In addition to being able to book regular flights, FlySriLanka and Simplifly announced the introduction of a new product which will aim to maximise load factors by offering empty seats at discounts to local and overseas passengers on sectors that are not operating at full capacity. Available to both local and foreign travellers, the innovative service hopes to attract travellers who wish to fly but cannot afford to charter the entire aircraft or helicopter.
“We are very excited about our partnership with FlySriLanka. We have a long-term relationship with Eco Team and their expertise in the travel industry is well known. We are particularly keen to develop the concept of offering discounted seats on sectors where are aircraft are not operating at full capacity, as this opens up the market to those who are cost-conscious and want to experience the beauty of our island from the air, but at a reduced price,” said Suren Mirchandani, Founder and Vice Chairman of Millennium Airlines, the owners of Simplifly.
FlySriLanka will also promote Simplify’s aerial whale watching tours operating from Kogalla airport from December through March. The Wings-Over-Whales flights allows guests to observe adult and young whales undisturbed in their natural habitat, with a phenomenal aerial perspective that cannot be enjoyed from a boat.
The whales will often remain on the surface for a full five minutes or more before diving. While in the air, guests also enjoy close views of the giant ships that pass by, along with a myriad of marine life that include sea-turtles, stingrays and large pods of dolphins at play.
On the return leg, guests are treated to views of the azure coastline, hillside temples, the hills of Sri Lanka in the distance and an amazing fly-by of the Galle Fort, a UNESCO heritage site that can truly be appreciated only from the air. With the entire experience lasting just an hour, clients save significant time compared to a journey by boat – at an amazing value.
Simplifly marked 10 years of operations in 2014 and is the most experienced airline in the country.
