For the 14th consecutive year, the Sri Lanka Logistics & Freight Forwarders’ Association (SLFFA) will be conducting its annual DGR (Dangerous Goods Regulations) training program in January 2014. The DGR Refresher will be conducted in two batches from 13-14 and 15-16 January 2014 while the DGR full course will be held from 27-30 January 2014. All courses will be held at the Jaic Hilton Residencies at Union Place, Colombo 02.
This year SLFFA obtained the IATA ATS status enabling SLFFA to conduct the DGR program solely through the Association, without having to obtain services of external trainers. Hence, for the first time, the DGR training will be conducted by SLFFA’s own in-house trainer, Janaka Sumithrarachchi, who received his initial training directly from IATA Singapore. Sumithrarachchi also has a 1st Class Honours Degree in Business Administration from the Staffordshire University in UK. He is a lecturer for SLFFA AITT, the training arm of the Association.
The chairman and the executive committee along with the Advisory Committee consisting of past chairmen initiated these training programs in order to further develop the human resources in freight forwarding and to meet the challenges in the ever changing global market place.
