Sri Lanka and Pakistan will sign an agreement on mutual cooperation in shipping between the two countries. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mutual Cooperation in Shipping Business between the Ceylon Shipping Corporation and Pakistan Shipping Corporation will be signed during Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena’s forthcoming State visit to Islamabad this week. The two sides believe that a formal MoU between the two organisations carrying the national flags of both countries will provide the structure and basis for implementing their future collaboration in the joint development of the shipping business. The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal put forward by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Arjuna Ranatunga to make arrangements to sign the MoU. The Sri Lankan President left to Pakistan on his first state visit to a South Asian country yesterday.
