Isuru Gamage of Asian International School and Pushkara Jayasekara of Royal Institute Nugegoda recently became Scholarships for USA’s (www.scholarshipsforusa.com) latest students to be accepted by University of North Dakota (www.und.edu) with financial aid and credit transfers. UND has been working with Priyanthi Dissanayake since 2008 offering the best of American education at a very affordable cost. As a result the Lankan community in Grand Forks has seen a steady growing up.

On the eve of their departure to Grand Forks both Isuru and Pushkara along with their mothers were introduced to Yasith De Silva flying Airbus A340 for SriLankan Airlines. “Yas” is the best known UND Aviator in SL. Yasith explained why John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Science is considered one of the best aviation schools of the world; state of the art equipments such as the Altitude Chamber – the only one of its kind in a civilian training facility in the US, owning the largest fleet of aircraft outside a commercial organization etc. Yasith also impressed upon the wisdom of selecting many different courses such as IT, Psychology etc. But the most interesting information for the starry eyed future aviators was when Yasith told them that he was offered scholarships of over $ 80,000 during his stay at UND. UND’s aviation each year offer $ 400,000 worth of scholarships to its students each year.

Pushkara plans to major in Mechanical Engineering with aerospace focus and Isuru BSc in Aeronautics. Each one of them, based on their AS and A-Level results are likely to earn credit transfers of almost one year.
