Thalassa Hellas 13,808 TEU Evergreen line mega ship made her maiden call to Colombo Port on 8 October. This is the biggest ever ship to call port of Colombo in its entire history.
The introduction of Thalassa Hellas to Evergreen fleet marks its entry into the ultra-large class container ship league. It also signifies the confidence and continuous commitment Evergreen has towards Colombo as its main hub port and the major business partner in the region. Also exporters and importers will benefit tremendously as a result of additional capacity introduced which would help them to move their in and out bound volumes with much ease.
The local agents, Greenlanka Shipping Ltd Managing Director Capt. Gamini Nanayakkara mentioned that they are really proud to have been associated with the prestigious Evergreen Line for over 24 years from the inception of its service to Colombo. Since then Evergreen has become one of the biggest carriers to serve Colombo.
Chairperson Norma Nan-ayakkara, Joint Managing Directors Kushani Nana-yakkara Gankanda and Prashan Nanayakkara also appreciated with deep sense of gratitude the great service provided by Evergreen Line to the importers and exporters of Sri Lanka and the patronage extended to make Colombo the major shipping hub in the region.
