The Dredging International/International Seaport Dredging, Belgium owned Trailing Suction Dredger Antigoon (DWT12, 948, LOA: 115.00 M, Beam: 22.00 M) called in for layup and drydock repairs during early March 2017.

Colombo was the best repair location as the high value asset was operating in the Indian Subcontinent.

Colombo has been successfully providing repair facilities to DEME and many other international dredger owners over the past four decades. The business had been secured as a result of the proven track record of Colombo Dockyard as a reliable shipyard which delivers quality repairs with focus on timely completion. This project was stemmed following the good work carried out on CSD Ambiorix during June 2016.

During this call the vessel was accommodated in Dock No. 01 (30,000 DWT) and afloat repairs were carried out at repair piers.

The major repair scope during this call consisted of routine drydocking related repairs, extensive repairs to bottom doors and overhauling of machinery and equipment.

The strategic geographical location of Colombo Dockyard, close to major dredging hot spots, places Colombo Dockyard as an ideal location for dredgers in the region. Colombo’s professional approach and speedy service was appreciated by the owners/ managers, as the repair project was re-delivered on schedule meeting owner’s requirements.

The project team was headed by Ship Manager Ajith Kariapperuma who was well supported by all production departments in redelivering this project.

The owner’s interests were looked after by DEME team headed by a team of Superintendents Dietmar van Zwieten, Adrian Cole, Thomas Prims, Sören Lambrichts, Philippe Monseweyer, Yannick van Woensel, and Ivan Driessen.

The repairs were carried out meeting the Bureau Veritas class society requirements. GAC Shipping Ltd. handled the local husbanding work smoothly.
