World’s biggest containership drops anchor in Singapore

The world’s biggest containership CSCL Globe paid a maiden call at Pasir Panjang port, Singapore recently, the Strait Times writes.

The first in a series of five same-sized ships ordered by China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) dropped anchor in Singapore. The behemoth 19,100 TEU vessel embarked on her maiden voyage from Tianjin Port, China on December 1. The mega ship’s 70-day voyage will include calls at Qingdao in Shandong province, Dalian in Liaoning province, Felixstowe in England, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and Hamburg in Germany. Measuring 400 m in length, 58.6 m in width and 30.5 m in depth, the vessel is as large as four soccer fields, and will be deployed on the Asia-Europe trade loop. South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries constructed the vessel.
