A comprehensive traffic plan for Phase I of the Southern Highway (Kottawa to Galle) which is due to be opened in September has been drawn up by Police.
The access controlled expressway would have eight interchanges, such as Kottawa, Kahatuduwa, Gelanigama, Dodangoda, Welipenna, Kurundugaha, Nayapamula and Pinnaduwa for vehicles to enter.
