AOD’s REVEAL 2013 underlines great demand in business for young designers

The REVEAL 2013 graduate design exhibition by Sri Lanka’s International Design campus AOD, was launched last night with an exclusive event open to design-led industry personalities.
REVEAL 2013 included the most contemporary projects in fashion, interior design and graphic design and demonstrated the remarkable results of the international standard Northumbria University UK design degrees offered at AOD.
A large number of design industry professionals from advertising, web design, animation, interior architecture, fashion, apparel and photography attended the event and were greatly impressed by the creative skills and the professionalism of AOD’s graduates. Their great enthusiasm by industries for fresh creativity was testimony to the positive impact of design education on all creative industries.
Representing Sri Lanka’s creative led industry professionals, REVEAL 2013 exhibition was declared open by the celebrated design industry personality Dian Gomes Managing Director of MAS Intimates.
After viewing the student work, Gomes stated: “It’s absolutely refreshing to see this amazing, international level young talent coming from our country! I can see how these young designers will contribute a great deal to businesses that will strengthen Sri Lanka. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate AOD and these young men and women graduating at REVEAL 2013 and encourage them to go forward and do things that will help Sri Lanka make its mark in the world with design.”
AOD Founder and Managing Director Linda Speldewinde stated that the great response received from industry for the 2013 graduate design show was remarkable. “I think it goes to show that designers are needed for businesses to succeed and the decision makers in industry have the futuristic vision to understand this. From the response our graduates received at REVEAL it appears that our 100% employability rate will be maintained throughout. ‘Design’ is one of the top emerging value additions in the world and I believe we are laying important groundwork for Sri Lanka by ensuring homegrown designers have knowledge and qualifications in par with the world’s design capitals like London.”
