The old paradigm was ‘knowledge is power’. Today it needs to be explicitly understood that ‘sharing knowledge is power’. The Association of Professional Bankers – Sri Lanka is delighted to share knowledge in banking with the general public through the Daily FT. You could expect this informative, resourceful ‘APB section’ in the Daily FT on every last Wednesday of the month, commencing today.
Established in 1988, the Association of Professional Bankers Sri Lanka has been the most representative organisation of banking professionals in the island and has functioned as a forum that brings together leading personalities in business administration and intellectual discussion in the contemporary banking scene. Over the years we have grown from being a small grouping of senior bankers in the country to an organisation having a membership base in excess of 1,200 members representing all the banks in the country.
I am confident that this section will be of immense value not only to the banking community in the country by being a main forum to discuss prevailing issues but also to the general public as well by enlightening them of the new developments in the banking industry. Further, it is my ardent hope that this forum will steer us towards APB’s inviolable fixed mission of; sustaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity of bankers, advancing the public interest and influencing the achievement of the highest ethical standards of governance in the banking industry.
Hence, the APB expects this section to be very effective in fostering knowledge sharing among the readers.
With Best Regards,
Deepal Abeysekera
President, Association of Professional Bankers Sri Lanka
