Rajeeva wins CIMA Star Award
Two key CIMA members were last week honoured with CIMA leadership awards – CIMA Star and CIMA Business Icon at the President’s Dinner held at the Cinnamon Grand.
Singer Sri Lanka Group Chairman Hemaka Amarasuriya was honoured as CIMA Business Icon and Panthera Leo Corporate Consulting Group Sri Lanka Managing Director and Amarasuriya Associates Senior Legal Consultant Rajeev Amarasuriya won the CIMA Star award.
Singer Group Chairman Hemaka Amarasuriya was nominated to the panel of judges by CIMA leadership community as there were no applicants for the award.
However the CIMA Star Award received a considerable enthusiasm from the members, Lead Judge of the four -member judging panel and Daily FT Editor Nisthar Cassim said. “We analysed the application of CIMA Star award. There were impressive and encouraging submissions.”
Other judges in the panel were Dr. Harsha Cabral PC, Dr. Ajantha Dharmasiri, Senior Faculty Member and Management Consultant, Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura and Ravi Peiris, Director General of Employers Federation of Ceylon.
The objective was to recognise achievements of members below 40 years of age and encourage them to be future leaders of CIMA as well as CIMA brand ambassadors. Three areas were looked at when assessing the winner, he said – academic achievement, personal achievement and career advancement.
“This year we got a mix bag of contenders. We were encouraged by the enthusiasm of all applicants. After a thorough study we decided to make only one recommendation. This was in keeping with the spirit and quality of the award,” Cassim said. “We believe that by selecting the best deserving, it will attract more to applicants for the award.”
The panel was said to have unanimously found Rajeev Amarasuriya’s achievements impressive and highly commendable.
