Opportunity for tourists and business delegations to visit Superior Courts Complex

When President of the Chamber of Tourism and Industry A.M. Jaufer met Chief Justice of Sri Lanka Mohan Peiris who was on a tour of Pothuvil and Arugambay areas on 6 November 2013, he handed over a proposal seeking permission for tourists and business delegations to visit the Superior Courts Complex to observe and study the legal system in operation in Sri Lanka.
With the end of the war in Sri Lanka, the arrivals of tourists and business delegations from all over the world have increased by manifold. Many tourists and investors have shown a keen interest in investing in Sri Lanka and gaining an insight into how the legal system operates in the country. They therefore expressed the desire to visit the Superior Courts Complex to observe how the Judiciary works.
On this occasion, Jaufer explained to the Chief Justice that the tourists and members of the business delegations are keen in visiting the Superior Courts Complex in the weekends and on holidays to gain an insight into how the legal system operates in practice in the country. Peiris expressed the view that it is a good idea. He further stated that this request could be implemented from next year. Minister of Justice Rauff Hakeem also participated in this occasion.
