People’s Bank celebrates World Children’s Day

In commemoration of World Children’s Day that falls today, 1 October, People’s Bank will be giving away gifts to all Isuru Udana and Sisu Udana account holders throughout the month of October. Backed by a rich heritage of 53 years, People’s Bank pioneered some of the most innovative financial services to the country and over the years have successfully introduced savings plans and financial services to suit various age groups and requirements with an intention of giving the best banking experience to all Sri Lankans. Today People’s Bank boasts of the highest number of children’s savings accounts in the country, offering the highest interest rates and gift benefits for children’s accounts. The Isuru Udana account was introduced for children below five years whilst the Sisu Udana account was introduced to cultivate the habit of saving among children above six years. The culmination of these two account groups has thus far been successful in inculcating the habit of saving in the highest number of students in the country.  The widespread student’s savings centers in schools around the island, also accounts for the largest student savings center network in the island. The emphasis that People’s Bank places on these types of accounts is based on the understanding that the bank has garnered that children are indeed the future of a nation and need to be nurtured with good habits. Coinciding with World Children’s Day, all Isuru Udana account holders who receive a deposit of Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,000,000 within the month of October will receive gifts such as teddy bears, colouring books, children’s song books, pencil boxes, lunch boxes, crayons, school bags, building blocks, and melodicas among many other exciting gifts along with gift vouchers worth Rs. 10,000. Meanwhile, Sisu Udana account holders with a deposit of Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,000,000 will receive gifts such as caps, exercise books, table clocks, school bags, umbrellas, lunch boxes, wristwatches, rain coats, dictionaries, encyclopedias, calculators, and pen drives, along with People’s Gift vouchers worth Rs. 10,000. Opening up a world of opportunities for children, the Isuru Udana and Sisu Udana account holders also have the possibility of converting their children’s savings accounts to the Young Executive Savings accounts when they reach the age of 18. Furthermore, students can also obtain special education loans to further their tertiary education in any chosen field.
