President unveils Avalokitheswara Bodhisathwa Statue at Sri Lankan High Commission

President Maithripala Sirisena unveiled the Avalokitheswara Bodhisathwa Statue on 15 February afternoon, which was placed at the complex of the Sri Lankan High Commission for India
The Avalokitheswara Bodhisathwa Statue, which belonged to the 8th century BC, was found at Veragala in Anuradhapura. This is a gold plated bronze statue and its feet situated in Lalithsana and Rajaleelasana postures.
The Bataliya Statue making school of the Central Cultural Fund made this replica of the Bodhisathwa Statue and donated it to the Srilankan High Commission in India
