Sri Lanka strengthens ties with London Stock Exchange

Sri Lanka last week strengthened its ties with the London Stock Exchange (LSE) on the sidelines of the Investor Forum held in the UK capital. The visiting Sri Lanka capital market leaders were invited to open the trading of LSE on Friday.
LSE was also involved in supporting the Invest Sri Lanka Forum organised by the Colombo Stock Exchange and the Securities and Exchange Commission along with Bloomberg. LSE’s ties with Sri Lanka got a big boost when it acquired MillenniumIT, the capital markets software specialist. The LSE is powered by solutions developed by MIT as well.
SEC Chairman Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in UK Dr. Chris Nonis, LSE CEO Alexander Justham, CSE Chairman Krishan Belandra, Director and incoming Chairman Vajira Kulatilaka, CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike, SEC Commissioners Zuraish Hashim and Lolitha Abeysinghe and MIT Sri Lanka executives and Sri Lanka High Commission officials were among others present at the market opening of the LSE, which was followed by logos of the SEC and SEC flashed across the main trading screen of the LSE.
