Walliwala East Sanasa Bank introduces ‘Rankatha’ on International Women’s Day

The Walliwala East Sanasa Bank in Weligama introduced the ‘Rankatha’ account to its members to celebrate International Women’s Day which fell on 8 March. Bank Manager Shanika Chathurangi said that Rankatha account holders would receive 7% interest and would be eligible to obtain loans at low interest rates on the completion of one year of regular deposits. The Walliwela East Sanasa Bank boasts of deposits of over Rs. 25 million and a membership of over 450, the majority of which are women. Women’s and Children’s Branch Matara Chief Inspector W.R.K. Damayanthi, Dr. Shanika Madhukalpani of the Matara Base Hospital and Ruhunugama Sanasa Bank Manager Iresha Nayanapriya were the Guests of Honour at the launch.
