AIA Insurance has won the Sri Lanka Great Place to Work (GPTW) first ever workplace wellness award. Honoured as a Wellness Champion for 2024 in the inaugural list that celebrates organisations that prioritise employee health and wellbeing, AIA was the only insurance company to win this award.

This accolade reflects AIA’s dedication to fostering a workplace that supports the physical and mental wellness of every team member, aligning with the company’s overarching purpose of helping people live healthier, longer and better lives.

At AIA Insurance, wellness is more than a concept, it is a fundamental pillar of our brand purpose. While AIA has long been committed to promoting wellness for its customers and communities, this award highlights our equally powerful focus on internal wellbeing. By providing an environment where employees feel supported, connected and empowered, AIA enables its team members to thrive not just professionally but personally.

“Employee wellbeing at AIA goes beyond physical health. It’s about creating a holistic environment where everyone feels safe, fulfilled and valued,” said Director Human Resources Thushari Perera.

“We understand that wellness is not a one-size-fits-all concept, which is why we take a personalised approach to support each employee’s unique journey. Our comprehensive framework for employee wellbeing built on the pillars of Live Well, Think Well, Feel Well and Plan Well, demonstrates how deeply we prioritise the health and happiness of our workforce. Whether it’s providing access to fitness resources, expert-led mental health workshops or financial planning forums, we are dedicated to addressing every aspect of our employees’ lives. Programs like Me@AIA, annual health check-ups and inclusive celebrations foster an environment of care, connection and holistic growth. At AIA, we recognise that the wellbeing of our employees directly impacts the value we create for our customers and communities. This award is a testament to the heart of our organisation, our people and our commitment to creating a culture where they can truly thrive, both personally and professionally.”

The Wellness Champion award by Great Place to Work was based on a comprehensive study into employee wellness, examining both employee perceptions and management practices across seven key levers: Responsible Leadership, Supportive Managers, Sense of Community, Autonomy & Fulfilment, Health and Benefits, Enabling Work Environment and Engagement & Psychological Safety. Among the participating organisations, AIA was one of only three recipients of the Wellness Champion title, awarded for Excellence in Employee Health & Benefits.

As AIA continues to pave the way for wellness in the workplace, this recognition serves as an inspiration to maintain and elevate our commitment to employee wellbeing. AIA remains steadfast in ensuring that every employee feels supported, motivated, and empowered to lead a healthy and fulfilling life, both within the workplace and beyond.
