Kaya Daluwatte wins Ladies event at RCGC
Yannik stamps his class at RCGC

The defending champion Yannik Kumara showed his supreme class when he won the Men’s segment of the 100th RCGC Club Championship 2021 when he overcame Rusi Captain for the second year in tandem. Meanwhile, in the Ladies event, defending champion Kayla Perera was beaten by her cousin Kaya Daluwatte, who was in sparkling form.
The event, which attracted more than 150 golfers, saw some thrilling encounters and many experienced players being humbled by the youngsters which speaks high volume for the future of golf in Sri Lanka. Kaya Daluwatte, Kayla Perera, Yannik Kumara, plus another 13-year-old sensation Reshan Algama almost reached the semi-final.
Kaya Daluwatte won the event 6/4 over Kayla Perera while Yannik was unstoppable and showed his supreme class and what is to come in the future from him when he beat much experienced Rusi Captain seven-up. Yannik, who took up the game at the age of 5 and has being playing for the last seven years in major tournaments, is coached by Jehan de Seram. Kaya too is coached by Jehan de Seram.
The event was sponsored by Tag Heuer with Colombo Jewellery Stores CEO Akram Cassim giving away the main awards. RCGC Captain Jehaan Ismail and his committee, putting up a very well-organised event in the centenary year which will be talked for many more years.
