Both teams with Burdette Trophy

The Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) won all the trophies on offer against the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) in their annual Burdette Trophy and other events at the 125th anniversary celebrations encounters played at the RCGC course last weekend.
RCGC accounted for the Burdette Trophy, Puffin Singles, Foursomes, Masters’ and the 125th Anniversary Trophy which were on offer where more than 100 golfers from both esteemed clubs teed off in a day of golf in their annual event.
In the Puffins singles, RCGC players Yun Jeong Choi, Anuk Chitty and Senadheera recorded wins, while for the Hill Country Club, young golfing sensation Kaya Daluwatte was in sparkling form, winning her battle against Sayeon Park.
In the Burdette Foursomes, wins were recorded by the pairs Yannik Kumara and Sachin de Silva, W.A.K. Fernando and Rusi Captain, and Navin de Silva and Avanca Herat. Meanwhile, the young sensational golfer from the Hill Capital, Haroon Aslam, and Manjula Chandrasoma paired off for NEGC win against Husni Uwise and Affli Raheem.
In the main event – Burdette Singles – wins were recorded by Rajeeve Rajapakse, Husni Uwise, Ranil Peiris and Sachin de Silva for the RCGC, while for NEGC wins were recorded by Reshan Algama, Shamal Perera, Haroon Aslam, and Sudath Kumara.
The major upset of this event was the win recorded by the 13-year-old youngster, Reshan Algama, who got the better of the two-time Club Champion Yannik Kumara. Reshan was in sensational form, displaying high quality in his shots, being pinpoint accurate. A few bad shots cost Yannik the game in the end.
With this win, RCGC increased their lead to 69 with 32 to NEGC, while six of them have been halved.
