11th Commander’s Cup Golf Tournament to tee off on 20 January

The Premier golf event organised by Air Force Eagles Golf Links and Courses (AFEGLC), hosted by Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), 11th Commander’s Cup Golf Tournament 2024 will tee off on 20 January at the Eagle Golf Links in China Bay.

Tee off is expected at 7 a.m.

This will be the first Commanders Cup under the newly appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa who is also a keen golfer is expected to tee off in this event. More than 100 golfers have already registered for the event and more entries are expected in the coming few days.

There will be an Eagles’ Challenge Trophy, which will be accorded to the top performer among serving members of the armed services, will be up for grabs in addition to the major trophy among the tri-forces golfers (both male and female). Awards ceremony will take place on 20 January night soon after the competition of the tournament.

Dialog Enterprise is the main and exclusive sponsor of the event for 4th year in tandem.

As part of a strategic initiative to boost sports tourism, the SLAF has developed golf courses in key locations, including Anuradhapura, Koggala and China Bay. These courses, such as the Koggala Golf Links situated in the Southern Province, have become integral to promoting the combination of sports and tourism.
