Sri Lanka’s racing sensation Pasindu Peiris achieved an important milestone in his career with his entry to EZY Racing, Sri Lanka’s premier motor racing team.
EZY Racing has had a very strong season in 2011 and has been successful in being in the podium in every race it has participated this year with all five of its drivers steering its to success.
With the announcement of the newly crowned champion Pasindu Peiris being part of EZY Racing 2012, the team would without doubt be provided an octane boost to its already strong driver lineup.
The 24 year old King of Gravel, who has become a household name for his entertaining and innovative art of gravel driving, is easily considered to be the country’s best racing driver for his gusto and never-say-die attitude and was recently awarded the Champion Driver in the SL GT cars up to 3500 CC category in the championship held by Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR).
Pasindu, who manoeuvred his Mitsubishi Evolution IX in a delicate display on gravel, also became the youngest driver to win a SLARDAR Championship for the SL-GT up to 3500CC class and is classified as the unofficial Driver Champion of the National Championship 2011, to be announced shortly.
“I am honoured to be offered a position in the EZY Racing team. It is a widely known fact that EZY Racing is the leading racing team in Sri Lanka today. It definitely has the ability to make available resources and infrastructure to provide the drivers advantages in many ways. Its vision, execution and view on motor racing is farseeing and I am proud to be a member of this team,” said the newly-crowned champion.
Pasindu who has been groomed as a purebred motor racer by his father Raja Peiris who has successfully managed his career ever since Pasindu was a mere 13 years, said that he had put in an immense amount of commitment to ensuring that his son achieved his dream of becoming a ‘Racing Supremo’.
“We have done our absolute best to provide Pasindu with what he required to achieve the status he has today. It has been a challenging path and we have been lucky to have different sponsors supporting his endeavours in the past. Now that Pasindu has become a successful driver, we strongly believe that it is critical that he evolves still further. We are confident that EZY Racing is the right team for him as it understands motor racing better than any other in Sri Lanka,” said a proud Raja Peiris.
CEO/Team Principal Shafraz Hamzadeen who has transformed EZY Racing, the racing brand of Sri Lanka’s only professional motor racing company, EZY Motor Racing Corporation, from a concept to success, said: “Today is a very important day for both Pasindu and our team. When we first got into motor racing, many people were of the view that motor racing could not be managed as a successful venture. During the last two years, we managed to change that view as a result of consistent performances from our race drivers, innovative strategies in developing the brand, broad basing motor racing and attracting different sponsors to invest with the team.
These focused efforts have transformed us into a team to be looked out for by almost every motor racing driver. The fact that we have been able to attract Sri Lanka’s best driver Pasindu Peiris says it all.”
EZY Racing, who has redefined glamour in the Sri Lankan motor racing arena, is planning to have Sri Lanka’s most glamorous motor racing lounge at the Colombo Night Races which will be held on 17 December.
Peiris will don EZY Racing’s signature black and red attire for the first time in this race when he lines up with Sajaad Zuhair, Rizvi Farouk and Shafraz Junaid to make a very strong EZY Racing grid.
