25 teams vie for RCUAC Challenge Shields on 20 May

Twenty-five water polo teams from 12 leading schools in Sri Lanka will vie for RCUAC Challenge Shield on 20 May at Royal College pool organised by Royal College Union Aquatic Club (RCUAC). 

The tournament is Sri Lanka’s only tournament dedicated to promoting the sport among under 13, under 15 and under 17 teams among both boys’ and girls’ schools in the country under the theme, “For the Love of the Game”. 

The tournament is sanctioned by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) and is officiated by its elite panel of referees and judges to ensure fairness and highest standards in the game.  

The RCUAC started the tournament with a long-term vision of promoting Water polo sport in as many schools as possible and in turn build a strong pool of athletes to represent Sri Lanka at international level. 

It is a sport requiring dedication for strong fitness, careful planning, and quick thinking, which are key ingredients in the make up the complete student athlete.   

The event is expected to attract families of athletes, sports enthusiasts, and young athletes looking to take up this magnificent sport of Water polo. The RCUAC Challenge Shield is the results of dedicated RCUAC committee and the Royal College Pool it their aim to promoting Water polo across the country. 

 

Participants: 

  • Girls: Bishops College, Vishaka Vidyalaya, Ladies College, Colombo International School, and Gateway College
  • Boys: Royal College, S’ Thomas' College, Nalanda College, St. John's Nugegoda, Thurstan College and D.S. Senanayake College.
