35th National Hockey Championship Seethadevi and Peterites win

Seethadevi Girls’ College Kandy and St. Peter’s College (boys) won the 35th National Hockey Championship 2019 in the Under-20 segment, which took place at the Digana Grounds recently.

Seethadevi got the better of Janadhipathi College Nawala two-to-one in a penalty shootout in the quarter-final encounter. In the semi-final they beat Holy Family Convent Wennappuwa three-to-zero. In the final encounter, the Kandy girls bested Sangamitta Matale five-to-one in a penalty shootout.  Seethadevi Girls’ College was coached by Mohamed Ashraff and N. Nadaraja, and led by Bashini Perera.

In the boys’ event, St. Peter’s became champions when they beat Zahira Matale two-to-zero.
