3750 players, 250 teams in first phase of Milo Football Champs 2024

The first phase of MILO Football Champs 2024 – Northern Province (Under-10 and Under-12), organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Nestlé MILO, has kicked in all five districts of the Northern Province.

The first set of games were played on 24 February in Mannar district and further matches will be played on 2 March in Mullaitivu district, 9 March in Vavuniya district, 16 March in Kilinochchi district, and 22 March in Jaffna district.

With a participation of 250 teams, inclusive of 3,750 players from all the five districts, this has been recorded as the highest number of players taking part in a provincial football program. After the district rounds, the top 16 teams (comprising both girls’ and boys’ teams) from each age category will advance to the final round. The final round will feature a total of 80 teams, including 1,200 players, which is scheduled to take place at the Duraiappa Stadium in Jaffna on 23 March.
