38th Annual Seven-A-Side Hockey tourney, annual awards on Sunday

The Mercantile Hockey Association will be conducting their 38th Annual Seven-a -Side Tournament on Sunday the 19 October from 8 a.m. onwards at the P. Saravanamuttu Grounds (Oval). Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC will be sponsoring this prestigious and popular event.
Teams will be participating in five separate divisions and the cream of Sri Lankan talent will be displaying their skills to bring honour to their respective establishments. The Chief Guest will be Janaka Mendis, Credit Director of Singer Sri Lanka PLC.
The teams have been categorised as follows;
1. A Division – Dennis De Rosayro Trophy donated by Janashakthi Insurance Co. Ltd. Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC A, Hatton National Bank PLC A and Sampath Bank PLC.
Runner Up – Mercantile H.A. Trophy – Donated by a well wisher
A Division – Dennis De Rosayro Fair Play Trophy. Donated by Idac Ltd.
Will be contested by only “A” Division teams. Identical styled replicas awarded to the winners.
2. B Division – Singer Trophy. Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, AIA Insurance Lanka PLC, Hatton National Bank PLC B, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC B, Brown & Company and Singer (Sri Lanka) Ltd.
3. C Division – Lifebuoy Trophy
Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd., Hayleys PLC, MAS A, Seylan Bank PLC, Airport & Aviation Sri Lanka, Bevita Ltd., Nations Trust Bank PLC and Abans Ltd.
4. D division Edmund H. Cooray trophy
A William Dhananayake Ltd., WSO2, GlaxoSmithKline Beecham Ltd. and HSBC GSC Colombo
5. E Division – Ceylon Cold Stores Trophy

Hemaka D.S. Amarasuriya Trophy – For the Outstanding Young Player for the Year 2014
An identical replica and hockey stick will be awarded to Malinga Sapugasgodage of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC A.
The MHA will be also be awarding cups to the outstanding players in all five divisions.
The Mercantile H.A. will present cash awards to the winners from A to E Divisions respectively in addition to the replicas.
