39th annual Seven-A-Side Hockey Tourno and annual awards ceremony of League, Knock-Out & Sevens 2015

The Mercantile Hockey Association will be conducting its 39th Annual Seven-a -Side Tournament on Sunday 1 November from 8 a.m. onwards at the P. Sarawanamuttu International Stadium (Oval). People’s Leasing & Finance PLC is the sponsor of the event.

Teams will be participating in five separate divisions. The Chief Guest will be Seylan Bank Director/CEO Kapila Ariyaratne and the Guest of Honour will be Sampath Bank Deputy General Manager – Marketing and Business Development Tharaka Ranwala.

The teams have been categorised as follows;

“A” Division – Dennis De Rosayro Trophy – donated by Janashakthi Insurance Co. Ltd.: Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC “A”, Hatton National Bank PLC “A”, Sampath Bank PLC, Singer Sri Lanka PLC

Runner Up – Mercantile H.A Trophy – Donated by a well wisher

“A” Division – Dennis De Rosayro Fair Play Trophy – Donated by IDAC (Pvt) Ltd.: Will be contested by only “A” Division teams. Identical styled replicas awarded to the winners.

“B” Division – Singer Trophy: Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, AIA Insurance Lanka PLC, Seylan Bank, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC ‘B’ and Brown & Company 

“C” Division – Lifebuoy Trophy: Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd., Hayleys PLC, MAS ‘Active’, Nations Trust Bank PLC , MAS Intimates, Commercial Credit, HNB “B” and Softlogic

“D” Division Edmund H. Cooray Trophy: WSO2, Airport and Aviation Services, Arpico, NDB Bank

“E” Division – Ceylon Cold Stores Trophy: M.J.F. Group, Hilton Colombo, SmithKline Beecham, Janashakthi Insurance, John Keells Holdings

2015 Tournaments, League winners: “A” Division – Singer Trophy – Hatton National Bank PLC “A”; “B” Division – Acuity Trophy – Commercial Bank “B”; “C” Division – Phoenix Industries Trophy – MAS; “D” Division – John Keells Trophy – Airport and Aviation Services. The winners will be given the challenge trophies and 16 replicas.

Knock-Out winners 2015: “A” Division – Hatna Trophy – Hatton National Bank “A”; “B” Division – MHA Trophy – Commercial Bank “B”; “C” Division – Commercial Bank Trophy – MAS; “D” Division – Derrick Harvie Trophy – Not held this year. The winners will be given the challenge trophies and 16 replicas.

The Hemaka D.S. Amarasuriya Trophy – For the Outstanding Young Player for the year 2014. An identical replica and hockey stick will also be awarded to Nuwan Mahara of Hatton National Bank PLC “A”. The M.H.A will be also be awarding cups to the outstanding player in all five divisions. The Mercantile H.A. will present cash awards to the winners from “A” to “E” Divisions respectively in addition to the replicas.
