41st Annual Men’s Seven-A-Side Hockey Tournament on 29 Oct.

The Mercantile Hockey Association (MHA) will be conducting their 41st Annual Men’s Seven-a-Side tournament on Sunday, 29 October from 8.00 a.m. onwards at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium (Oval).

People’s Leasing & Finance Plc, Sampath Bank Plc and Hilton Colombo will jointly sponsor this prestigious event.

Teams will be participating in five separate divisions and the cream of Sri Lankan talent will display their skills to bring honour to their respective establishments.

The Chief Guest at the event will be People’s Leasing & Finance Plc Marketing Deputy General Manager Laksanda Gunawardena.  

The Guest of Honour will be Group Human Resources Senior Vice President Paduma Subasinghe.

The teams have been categorised as follows:

‘A’ Division - Dennis De Rosayro Trophy donated by Janashakthi Insurance Plc - Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc ‘A’, HNB Group Plc ‘A’ and Sampath Bank Plc ‘A’. Runner-up - Mercantile H.A Trophy – donated by a well wisher. ‘A’ Division - Dennis de Rosayro Fair Play Trophy donated by Idac Ltd. will be contested for by only ‘A’ Division teams. Identical styled replicas will be awarded to the winners.

‘B’ Division - Singer Trophy - Janashakthi Insurance Plc, Seylan Bank Plc, Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc ‘B’,Nations Trust Bank, Singer (Sri Lanka) Plc and MAS Holdings.

‘C’ Division - Lifebuoy Trophy - Brown and Company Plc, Softlogic Holdings, Hayleys Plc, HSBC, Sampath Bank Plc ‘B’

‘D’  Division - Edmund J. Cooray trophy - HNB Group Plc ‘B’ , Airport Aviation, John Keells Plc and WSO2

The winners will be given challenge trophies and 16 replicas. The MHA will also be awarding cups to the outstanding player in all five divisions. The Mercantile Hockey Association will present cash awards to the winners from divisions ‘A’ to ‘E’ respectively in addition to the replicas.
