48 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams take part in 36th Travel Trade Sports Club Softball

The Cricket ‘Sixes’ 2012 will be held tomorrow, 16 September at the Shalika and D.S. Senanayake College grounds commencing  8.30a.m., sponsored by Aitken Spence Travel  for the 15th successive year.



Club Bentota (top seeded) is the defending champion of the Men’s tournament, Tangerine Beach Hotel, Kalutara being last year’s runners-up.

Unfortunately, the women’s defending champion Aitken Spence Travels will give the tournament a miss this year, hence Cinnamon Grand, last year’s runners-up is elevated as the top seed.

The tournament  will be  conducted on five pitches, the men’s top half  and  the  women’s  playing at Shalika grounds (three pitches) and the men’s bottom half playing at  D.S. Senanayake, College grounds  (two pitches), consisting a total of  56 matches.

The Special awards on offer are for the best batsman and bats woman, best bowler (M&W),  man-of- the-final and woman-of-the- final,  man-of-the- tournament and the  woman-of- the- tournament.
