The 4th instalment of the Annual SLIBFI Cricket Fiesta concluded successfully at the NCC grounds.
It brought together not just members of the Association of Alternate Finance Institutions but also clients of these entities. This year’s tournament witnessed 23 teams competing for the Adl Capital Challenge Trophy in a spirit of camaraderie that has been upheld and been the hallmark of the event for the past four years.
SLIBFI Cricket Fiesta 2017 Project Chairman Mafaz Anver stated: “The event brought out sporting talent, strengthened team spirit and promoted healthy competition whilst giving an opportunity to the entire IBF fraternity, including their clients and families, to network with each other.”
HNB Al-Najah claimed the Championship Trophy with a convincing win in the final against the champions of 2015, Amana Bank Plc. Commercial Leasing and Finance and People’s Leasing Co, Kandy emerged winners in the Plate and Bowl categories respectively. Individual awards were presented to the outstanding performers, with all of the winners representing the champion team HNB Al Najah.
The Best Bowler Award went to Shalindra for his six wickets for 46 runs, the Best Batsman went to Jaleel for his 87 runs, with 2 not outs, whilst the Man of the Final award went to Sameera for his all-round performance of 31 runs and bowling figures of 4 for 41, and the Man of the Tournament was presented to Ikram for his 98 runs, with three not outs.
