The highly anticipated 4th Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) and Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) Victoria Gregory Derby concluded over the weekend in the Central Hills at Rajawella with NEGC retaining the title after the scores were deadlock at 8 a piece in the Gents event while Ladies event saw the NEGC winning 3/2.
In the Gents segment competition was so tensed that both teams ended up with a tie of 8 points each. This exciting turn of events meant that NEGC retained the coveted Victoria Gregory Derby trophy which they won in the last event.
The Ladies event was equally a spirited competition, with NEGC securing a 3/2 victory. The ladies of NEGC showcased tremendous skill and determination, ultimately clinching victory and adding another laurel to the club’s rich golfing history. The Ladies decider was between Anouk Chitty and Niloo Jayathilake two experienced golfers. Niloo had a good start but Anouk not only made a comeback but also made sure to take the title to NEGC favour.
